O'Neal blueberries

So far, of the three blueberry bushes I have, I've found the O'Neal blueberries to be the sweetest. This year, I plan to cover them with netting: the birds are noticed them, finally. I keep my blueberries in pots so that I can better control the soil as they prefer a more acidic pH.

  1. How long have you been growing blueberries in pots? I am getting blueberries this spring and think pots might be a nice way to plant them until I figure out exactly where I want to put them - plus they'll be easier to protect form the rabbits until they get bigger.

  2. Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I have kept the blueberries in containers from day one, usually transplanting into larger ones when appropriate, using rhododendron/camellia/azalea soil mix. The blueberries like their soil more acidic than everything else in my garden so keeping them in pots makes sense.
